STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

FORD F-7000 CHAMPION RODDER
OPERATOR S.O.P.
TO BE PERFORMED WHILE IN CAB:
1. Bring vehicle to a complete stop.
2. Place the transmission selector in neutral.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Ensure that 4 way flashers, beacons, and light bar are on/off as needed.
5. Engage the P.T.O. switch. (red indicator light signifies switch is on)(see cab
interior item #1)
6. Exit the vehicle using a 3 point dismount.

TO BE CONTINUED AT REAR OF TRUCK:
1. Set up traffic control devices as needed.
2. Remove the guide hose from the passenger side of the vehicle and lay it on the ground behind the vehicle
3. By pushing the black lever handle rearward toward the extend position, extend the rod till the knuckle is exposed at the bell fitting.
(caution should be used to ensure the rod does not penetrate the guide hose)(see operators station item #2)
4. Secure the desired tool to the end of the rod. (caution should be used to ensure against cross threading of the knuckle)
5. By pushing the black lever handle forward toward the retract position, retract tool to the bell.

6. Lower the guide hose and jack into the manhole.
7. Insert the tool into the line segment to be cleaned.
8. Ensure that the jack is braced against the opposite wall.
9. Re-position vehicle as needed to minimize unnecessary bends in the guide hose.
10. Secure additional jack to guide hose as needed.

TO BE CONTINUED AT REAR OF TRUCK:
11. Push the black lever handle rearward toward the extend position to push tool up/down the line segment.
12. When the desired footage is achieved release the black lever handle. (be prepared to stop quickly if tool is stopped or becomes bound)
13. Increase throttle as needed by pulling out on the throttle knob. (see operators station item #3)
14. Push black lever handle in for R.H. rotation, or pull out for L.H. rotation.
15. When desired rotation speed is achieved, push the black lever handle forward (while holding in/out for rotation) toward the retract position.
16. When desired retrieval is achieved release the black lever handle, stop the rotation by moving the black lever handle
in the opposite rotation position to stop rod rotation. (caution should be used to avoid over retracting rod, and to ensure against
stored rotation)
17. Remove the tool from the line segment.
18. Remove the guide hose and jack from the manhole.
19. Immediately close the lid.

20. Secure the guide hose on the side of the vehicle. (or if finished with the tool, lay the guide hose on the ground
and remove the tool, retract the rod from the guide hose, then secure the guide hose on the side of the vehicle)
TO COMPLETE PROCEDURE:
1. Remove traffic control devices.
2. Re-enter vehicle using 3 point mount.
3. Place the transmission selector in neutral and switch the P.T.O. switch to the off position. (red indicator light should go out)
4. Apply foot brake; place the transmission selector back in the drive position, release the parking brake, and when safe
to do so proceed to the next set up.
5. Ensure that 4 way flashers, beacons, and light bar are on/off as needed.
