Sewer Lateral Inspection Program The Oro Loma Sanitary District is pleased to announce the initiation of a point-of-sale lateral inspection program for properties within its service area. The implementation schedule and related ordinance are under development, with details expected to be presented to the Board in Spring 2026 or earlier. The program will promote the long-term reliability of our community's sewer infrastructure, protect public health, and help to maintain property values. Under this program:
  • Properties being sold will be required to have their sewer laterals inspected and repairs completed prior to the closing of escrow.
  • Inspections will include both lateral (CCTV) testing and pressure testing.
  • Any deficiencies identified during inspection must be corrected to meet District Standards and inspected by the District.
An informational notice has been distributed to real estate professionals across the region to gather feedback prior to the program's adoption, projected for August 2026. For questions or additional information, please contact the District at (510) 276-4700
NOTE: you must be a licensed contractor, or use a licensed contractor to perform the repair, if the work will require (a) exposing, repairing, or connecting to the sewer main in the street; (b) replacement of a "Y"-connector; or (c) replacement of the entire lateral line from the house to the street.  If the work is only from the house to the sidewalk, the homeowner may perform the work themselves.  If you have any question as to whether a licensed contractor is required, please call our Engineering Department at 510-276-4700 for assistance.
